Team USAPilot Program

The United States Olympic Committee and the Foundation for Global Sports Development have created a pilot program to help athletes in career development.

The program is aimed at providing sustainable transitions for athletes after their sporting lives are complete. The USOC recently hired a new administrator to work directly with athletes during their transitional phases.

Global Sports Development will help support the USOC’s Athlete Career Program. The program helps current and retired Team USA athletes with job placement and career training.

"As sport administrators, we are committed to creating a sustainable program that emphasizes athlete development," said USOC CEO Scott Blackmun.

"This pilot program is fundamental to our mission, and we are extremely grateful to our partners at GSD for their generous support."

BP Expands Paralympic Partnership

BP became an international partner for the International Paralympic Committee Thursday.

"What is so great about this partnership is that BP does not just want to work with the IPC but also wants to work with a number of the countries in which they operate to help raise awareness of the Paralympic Movement and its athletes," IPC president Phillip Craven said in a statement.

The partnership will last through 2016, while BP continues to provide support for the National Paralympic Committees of the United Kingdom, United States of America, Angola, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Trinidad & Tobago.

"Following the success of London, it is fantastic news that they want to continue to build on the momentum generated by the best ever Paralympic Games between now and 2016."
