Morinari Watanabe to be Appointed Executive Board Member of Tokyo 2020

Morinari Watanabe, president of the International Gymnastics Federation, was elected to be a member of the International Olympic Committee on 9th October. On 18th October, he visited Tokyo 2020 president Yoshiro Mori and CEO Toshiro Muto to convey the good news.

At their meeting, president Mori asked Mr Watanabe to join the Tokyo 2020 executive board, and Mr Watanabe accepted his invitation.

Mr Watanabe stated that he would like to serve as a bridge between the IOC, the International Gymnastics Federation and Tokyo 2020, and expressed his desire to contribute towards the success of the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The other Japanese IOC member, Tsunekazu Takeda, president of the National Olympic Committee, is one of the vice presidents of the Tokyo 2020 Executive Board.
