IOC News; 2022 Bids

IOC president Thomas Bach will hold a teleconference on Wednesday from IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The IOC will commence an informative seminar for the six cities bidding to host the 2022 Winter Olympics on Wednesday at its headquarters in Lausanne. The seminar will conclude on Friday.

The six bid cities areAlmaty, Kazakhstan; Beijing, China; Krakow, Poland; Lviv, Ukraine; Oslo, Norway; and Stockholm, Sweden.

Ukrainian sports legend and IOC member Sergey Bubka turns 50 on Wednesday. Bubka will celebrate this milestone on Friday in Kiev.

USOC Press Briefing

The United States Olympic Committee board of directors will meet Tuesday in San Francisco, California. Leaders will hold a teleconference for members of the media following the meeting at approximately 3:15 pm PT. An audio recording of the press briefing will be posted to USOCPressBox.org.

Federations News

The International Hockey Federation opened the women's field hockey World League final on November 23 inSan Miguel de Tucuman, Argentina. England and Korea square off in the inaugural match; competition ends on Sunday.

Melbourne, Australia will host the International Sailing Federation's 2013 Sailing World Cup. Competition at the Sandringham Yacht Clubbegan November 24 and ends Sunday.

Sports City Index

The Sports City Index survey, presented byAround the Ringsand TSE Consulting, is live. The opportunity to vote will end on Thursday. The second edition of the Sports City Index will be published on December 10.

Metrics evaluated include public perception of: the city as a host for major sports events, the city having world-class facilities and infrastructure, as well as general attractiveness of the city as a destination.Cast your vote here.

FIFA News

The FIFA Executive Committee meets on Wednesday and Thursday in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil.The 2014 World Cup preparations and Qatar 2022 concerns are expected to be the big items on the agenda for the executive committee.

The ExCo will also decidethe hosts of the FIFA tournaments and congresses for 2016 and 2017.

The 2014 World Cup draw takes place in Costa do Sauipe, near the city of Salvador, on Brazil’s north-eastern coast. Competition is set to begin at 11 a.m. EST on Friday.Brazil will stage competition for the 2014 World Cup June 12 through July 13.

AISTS Graduation

On Saturday, the AISTS will celebrate its 11th graduation. The 2013 edition of the AISTS MSA incorporates 41 participants from 25 countries, including IOC Sports Director Christophe Dubi.
