Last Monday, April 18, Ricardo Mendoza and Jorge Luna caused the anger of social media users after mocking people with Down Syndrome. The drivers of Hablando Huevadas referred to the 2022 Futsal Down World Cup and did not hesitate to release their black humor, the one that has put them in the eye of the storm on several occasions.
Many people have raised their voices of protest against them. The Down Peru Collective (CDP) even expressed its “total rejection and indignation at the offensive and discriminatory words expressed in the stand-up comedy show 'Hablando Huevad*s', directed by Jorge Luna and Ricardo Mendoza.”
Journalist Juliana Oxenford was not far behind and expressed her total disapproval of the drivers' attitudes. “This is not talking crazy, this is being a couple of balls...” , wrote the ATV figure sharing the Tweet of one of the users who also joined the long list of people who were outraged by the comedians' comments.
The Office of the Ombudsman also condemned the mockery of the presenters of “Talking Roe.” “Lack of respect and prejudice to the dignity of people with disabilities is not within the freedom of expression,” the entity said through its Twitter account.
However, Ricardo Mendoza and Jorge Luna preferred not to talk about it. On the contrary, they have focused on promoting and selling more tickets for their show, which will be held on April 19.
In addition, they announced what they will tell how they recovered their YouTube account and everything they are doing to find the culprits. As you remember, after being heavily criticized, the official website of the controversial program was hacked, but it didn't take long for it to be restored.
WHAT WAS THE MOCKERY THAT MADE USERS SO ANGRY?
On April 18, Twitter users took care of viralizing a last video of the drivers of Hablando Huevadas, where the pair mock people with Down Syndrome.
In the material, Luna refers to the 2022 Futsal Down World Cup, which she confesses she did not know. However, while explaining what it was about, he couldn't help but let go of his black humor, always accompanied by Ricardo Mendoza.
“I've seen a lot of people wearing shirts from Peru, I had a slight suspicion. I was informed that there was a match of the Peruvian Futsal team of people with Down syndrome, it seems that Peru is in the World Cup. I'm not really aware. I'm not a big fan of Down football, I haven't followed it, I don't know who its stars are, who are its different ones,” said Jorge Luna, causing the audience to laugh.
That's when Ricardo intervenes: “What has come to me the most is that they didn't understand the joke, it came late.” These words generated greater laughter.
However, both drivers were in charge of highlighting that they said it without any ill intention. So far, the comedians have not spoken about it.
IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME
It should be noted that last February, presenters Ricardo Mendoza and Norka Gaspar mocked a case of sexual assault on a minor who was riding a public service bus. Faced with this serious misconduct, the Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation against the comedians.
“The opening of this investigation was arranged after it became known that these people, who lead a program broadcast on the YouTube platform, had made mockery and obscene comments referring to a case of sexual violence in aggrieved against a minor,” said the Public Ministry.
“These kinds of comments on an issue of gender-based violence and street sexual harassment, such as the one mentioned above, violate the right to honor, dignity and social security of minors,” the prosecutor's office said in a press release.
At that time, Ricardo Mendoza and Norka Gaspar apologized. While Jorge Luna gave his full support to his colleagues from Hablando Huevadas.
