New Partners for Tokyo 2020

On Friday, Tokyo 2020 announced that Yahoo! JAPAN and GREE agreed to sponsor the Olympic bid in a collaborative, technology-driven partnership. Yahoo! JAPAN is the country’s largest internet portal and GREE is a mobile social gaming company.

According to a statement, the partrnship will launch a campaign enabling "athletes, celebrities, professors, sports fans and members of the public, particularly today's highly interconnected youth, to share their hopes and passion for the 2020 Games in Tokyo."

The messages will be shared in a dedicated portal managed by both companies.

"Yahoo! JAPAN will fully support the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Bid as Problem Solving Engine," Yahoo! JAPAN President and CEO Manabu Miyasaka said. "Under our slogan 'what can the Internet do for Japan,' we look forward to continue providing a unique service that enables people to share and express their passion for the Olympics and Paralympics."

GREE Founder and CEO Yoshikazu Tanaka added that the 2020 Olympics: "would give people in Japan a new dream and a renewed sense of optimism, and provide an arena for showcasing Japan's cultural and technological strengths to the world. At GREE we are firm believers in the values guiding the Olympic Movement, which reaches beyond borders and cultural differences to bring people around the world together in peace."

Tokyo 2020 now has 10 sponsors.

ITTF Sponsor Renews

Shanghai Double Fish extended its partnership with the International Table Tennis Federation for the 2013-2016 competition cycle.

The agreement includes the 2013-2016 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals as well as the 2013 ITTF-North American Championships and Cup.

Double Fish began its partnership with the ITTF in 2003 and has been the "official equipment supplier and sponsor for the ITTF World Tour Grand Finals."

"We are very happy with our cooperation and will continue to renew our contract on this event for a period of 2013-2016," said Mr Hou Yuanang, General Manager of Guangzhou Double Fish Sports Group Co., Ltd.

"We are even more pleased to see the effort of ITTF and TMS in promoting North American table tennis tournaments in 2013, and it is our great honor to serve as the official equipment supplier for the North American tournaments."

IOC Donation

The IOC and Mercedes-Benz donated a mini-van to the Mongolian Olympic Committee.

This is the second time since 1999 the IOC has donated a Mercedes-Benz vehicle to the MOC.

The ceremony was attended by the MOC Secretary General and a Mercedes-Benz General Manager.
