El presidente del Comité Olímpico Español, Alejandro Blanco; el embajador de la República de Bielorrusia en España, Pavel Pustovoy; y el campeón del mundo de judo, Niko Sherazadishvili, presentaron, en el Hotel Wellington de Madrid, los I Juegos Europeos que tendrán lugar en Minsk del 21 al 30 de junio.

El presidente del COE se mostró optimista con el equipo de 149 deportistas (79 hombres y 72 mujeres) que representarán a España en la cita de Minsk, "muy importante, porque es antesala de Tokio".

Blanco también ensalzó ante el embajador de la República de Bielorrusia en España el nivel de instalaciones y preparaciones que indican van a ser unos juegos "verdaderamente difíciles de superar".

Tienen la experiencia de haber organizado el Mundial de hockey, pero en esta ocasión albergarán un evento deportivo que contará con 23 disciplinas, 15 deportes y más de 4.000 atletas de hasta 50 países.

Tras la rueda de prensa, se ofreció una mesa redonda que reunió a representantes del cuerpo diplomático, los organismos de administración, el sector de deporte, las organizaciones sociales españolas y bielorrusas y los medios de comunicación.
