(ATR) The home of the 1980 Winter Olympics will play host to the annual International Luge Federation (FIL) Congress June 17-18.

The 64th FIL Congress in Lake Placid, New York will determine the race schedule for the 2017 season. New policies and procedures will be voted on by the 38 national federations, most notably an updated Ethics Code.The updated ethics code places a special emphasis on initiatives for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics.

Developed by FIL general counsel Christian Krahe and Norbert Hiedl of Germany, the revised code will be the first item on the agenda following reports by the FIL leadership.

FIL president Josef Fendt, secretary general Svein Romstad and vice president Harald Steyrer will be speaking.

Selection of a host for the 2020 FIL World Championships and the 2018 FIL Congress are also scheduled.

Russia Developing ‘Comprehensive Security’ for World Cup

FIFA says Russia will learn from the security mistakes at Euro 2016 that almost led to the expulsion of the Russian team.

A FIFA statement says despite fan behavior problems last weekend in France. the federation says Russia is developing measures to prevent trouble at the 2018 World Cup.

Fears for outbreaks of racist taunts and thuggery in the stands and outside the pitch have been ongoing concerns over Russia hosting the 2018 World Cup.

"The relevant Russian authorities are putting in place a comprehensive security concept for next year’s Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup," FIFA said in a statement.

ITU 2019 Grand Final Heads to Lausanne

The 31st edition of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) Grand Final will be held in Olympic capital Lausanne in 2019.

"The 2019 season will be a pre-Olympic year in which athletes are vying for Olympic spots," says ITU president Marisol Casado. "What better place for athletes to race for major Olympic qualifying points than in the Olympic Capital itself."

It will not be Lausanne’s first time hosting major triathlon championships. The world championships were held in the city for the first time in 1998 and returned in 2006. Lausanne also hosted the 2011 sprint world championships.

The official dates of the 2019 Grand Final are yet to be determined..

FIBA Plans Offices in China

The International Basketball Federation plans to open three new offices in China ahead of the 2019 FIBA World Cup set to be held in the country.

The three offices will be established in the capital Beijing, Guangzhou and Nanjing.

"We look forward to the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, which will be the first of a new era with 140 teams competing during a 15-month qualification period to be among the 32 playing in China," FIBA said in a statement.
