IAAF Portal to Report Doping

The IAAF has launched a secure online portal in six languages that can be used to report doping, the latest weapon in its fight against cheating in sport. The launch ensures that reporting suspicions of doping is made as easy as possible by simply clicking on the ‘REPORT DOPING’ banner which is displayed on the main IAAF home page and its medical and anti-doping section.The page – which is available in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Arabic – is available here.

Jamie Nieto medical fund

For anyone who does not know, Jamie is a two-time Olympian and four-time USA Champion in the high jump. He earned his place on the podium the right way, through hard work and dedication to his craft. He is now a private coach for an elite group of jumpers, in addition to an actor, writer, and producer. Those within the track world and beyond are fond of his regular interview series, Holla Athcha Boy, where he interviews world class and Olympic athletes.On Saturday, April 23rd, 2016 Jamie Nieto was involved in a tragic accident while at practice, during which he suffered spinal cord injuries. All the details are still coming together regarding his condition and prognosis, however one thing is clear: he needs our help. 2017 UIAA Mountain Protection Award

During its five years of existence, the annual UIAA Mountain Protection Award has made a tangible difference to mountain lives, communities and the environment. In parallel, the Award has provided an international showcase and communication platform for projects to raise awareness and exchange ideas and initiatives.There is still time to submit your project and become part of an international showcase. Applications for the 2017 Award have already been received from projects and initiatives on four continents. $5,000 will be given to the award winner.

The 2017 Award winner will be announced at the UIAA General Assembly on Oct. 21.

Major Events International (MEI) will be hosting the Major Events Summit Awards Dinner on the first evening of the Major Events Summit on July 12.The evening will be dedicated to celebrating the hard work and successes in the major events industry from MEI Members and partners.This year, award categories will include:

During the summer months, free and reduced school lunch programs are not readily available to the children who need it most. Each day, there are two shifts from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. or 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. You can choose to participate in as many shifts as you like!

2017 World Rowing Championships

With 150 days to go until the 2017 World Rowing Championships, those wishing to volunteer at the event may now register online.

Potential volunteers can select their desired position(s), days and shifts they would like to work. Volunteers will be needed for: Parking and transportation, timing, ticketing, language services, competition, media center, information center, entertainment area, airport greeters, and more. Registration will conclude at the end of June. In August and September, volunteers will be required to attend one of three training sessions. Additional details will be provided at a later date.

Glasgow 2018 European Championships

Glasgow 2018 is aiming to find more than 3,000 volunteers who will be the welcoming face of the European Championships, which takes place Aug 2-12, 2018. Applications will remain open up to the public until July 31, 2017 with Glasgow 2018 keen to hear from as many people as possible. Fancy yourself as a football illustrator? Well now you can show off your design skills whilst showing your support for Children Win in the build-up to the 2018 World Cup.In order to find the artists for the 2018 World Cup album, tschutti heftli is holding a competition. The task: to design a portrait of Diego Maradona. Artists are free to choose how they want to portray the Argentinian legend – as a bust, from up close, just by his hand, or any other way. The entry deadline is Aug. 31.

USA Luge Jon Wooten Helmet Designs for PyeongChang

Jon Wooten, art director for Big Top Entertainment in Newport News, Va., has come up with two helmet designs for the PyeongChang Games. In a social media-driven contest, USA Luge fans will pick the one that 10 American athletes will display in Pyeongchang nine months from now.

IPC launches Classification Research Grant Scheme

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has launched its Classification Research Grant Scheme which aims to help its members enhance or revise their classification systems, and is now calling for applications. The Research Grant Scheme will support International Federations (IFs), International Organisations of Sports for the Disabled (IOSDs) and Recognized International Federations– all eligible applicants – to develop sport-specific, evidence-based classification systems as defined in the 2015 IPC Athlete Classification Code. IFs and IOSDs must submit their proposals by July 15 and will be informed no later than Oct. 1 on the result of their application.Guidelines and further information on proposals for the Classification Research Grant Scheme proposals can be found at www.paralympic.org/classification-research-grant.

Agitos Foundation Launches 2017 Grant Support Program

The Agitos Foundation, the International Paralympic Committee’s development arm, launched the fifth edition of its Grant Support Programme (GSP) making $733,047.25 available for Para sport development projects. IFs and IOSDs are invited to submit applications which involve organizational capacity building, educational tools and training for international technical officials, coaches and classifiers, and sport equipment. Projects should also mainstream the importance of gender equality and athletes with high support needs. Successful projects must start after 1 October 2017 and conclude before 30 September 2018. The online portal for applications will be available for submissions from June 1 until July 14 23:59 (GMT+1). Successful projects will be announced on 10 September 2017. Bidding Open for Boxing Championships

Cities around the world now have the opportunity to bid to host major AIBA competitions taking place in 2018-2021. Competitions include the 2019 and 2021 Men's World Boxing Championships, 2018 and 2019 Women's World Boxing Championships and the 2018 Youth Men's and Women's World Championships.

The Men's and Women's World Championships, normally staged every two years, will be held in the same year for the first time in 2019. This instance may allow the competition to have a single host.

The next AIBA competition, will be held in Hamburg, Germany from Aug. 25 - Sep. 3.

2017 IAAF Diamond League

In a major restructure, the IAAF Diamond League has adopted a championship style model with the finalists competing for a prize pool of $3.2 million.

From next season, athletes will earn points in the first 12 IAAF Diamond League meetings to qualify for two final meetings where $100,000 will be at stake in each of the 32 Diamond Disciplines, including $50,000 for each winner.

WTF launches three bidding processes for its events between 2017-2024

The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has opened three separate bidding processes for its events in 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2024 respectively, as the federation continues to implement a more systematic and collaborative procedure for staging its events.The registration, application, evaluation and selection phases for the bidding process for events in 2017 and 2018 will take place between January and March 2017 with the selection of host cities to take place at the WTF Extraordinary Council Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on 7 March 2017.

Host cities for the events between 2018 and 2019 will be decided in Muju, Korea on 22 June 2017, just before the WTF’s flagship event, the World Taekwondo Championships.

Executive Committee approves bidding process for FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023

FIBA EuroBasket 2015 was the first edition of Europe's premier basketball competition to be organised by multiple hosts. The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 could follow suite and take place in more than one country.FIBA's Executive Committee convened a meeting on Tuesday 7 June, during which it approved the bidding process for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.That edition of FIBA's flagship event has the potential to be the first organised by and staged in more than one territory after FIBA's Central Board came out in favour of receiving bids from multiple host countries.Moving forward with the process, FIBA will send requests for expression of interest to all of its national member federations this month. Those wishing to be taken into consideration must confirm their interest by 31 August. Following the Applicant Phase and the Candidate Phase, FIBA's Central Board will ultimately announce the host(s) of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 at its end-of-year meeting in 2017.
