(ATR) Executives from the International Cycling Federation (UCI) touched on "a range of issues" when they met with IOC president Thomas Bach on Wednesday.
UCI president Brian Cookson and director general Martin Gibbs were part of the meeting at IOC headquarters in Lausanne, as was IOC director general Christophe De Kepper.
"It was very useful to talk with [Bach] on the Olympic Agenda 2020 review and, in particular, discuss how cycling can play its role in those plans," said Cookson in a UCI release.
The UCI brass are in Lausanne for a two-day management committee meeting, which will also be held at IOC headquarters.
"Among other things, we believe cycling can be a big part of the IOC’s sustainability and legacy work by helping bid cities transform themselves into places where cycling is a preferred way of getting around, making those cities better places to exercise, live, and work."
Bach showed concern for the integrity of cycling.
"The UCI informed me of all the measures they are taking to protect their sport from manipulation of any kind, in particular doping," said the German.
"And these efforts are indeed impressive."
