In the last few hours it became known that César Augusto Osorio, former mayor of Gonzalez (Cesar), was murdered. According to the first reports, the man was found by workers in the region with several bullet wounds.
The murder of the four-time mayor of González occurred in the rural area of that municipality, exactly in the vicinity of the village of La Floresta. Very close to the road that connects Ocaña with Convención, peasants found the body of the renowned politician of the Colombian Conservative Party.
It should be noted that César Augusto Osorio was well known in the region, as was his family because on numerous occasions they have held the Municipal Mayor's Office in different and important positions. His son José Emilio Osorio is even the current Secretary of Agriculture at Cesar.
The 65-year-old man had apparently been kidnapped in the past on at least two occasions, according to some social media accounts.
The news of the homicide caused consternation among the community that is not out of astonishment. Through social networks, different personalities from the political scene lamented this fact that mourns the Osorio Lozano family and in general the municipality of González, Cesar.

One of the people who spoke out on the death of the four-time former mayor of González, is the current local president of Valledupar, Mello Castro.
Andrés Felipe Mesa, secretary of environment at Cesar, also sent a message of condolences to the family of the politician killed in the last hours, especially his son.
“We reject the murder of Cesar Augusto Osorio, who knew how to serve the department and from González led important causes for its development. I extend my solidarity embrace to all his family, especially to the Secretary of Agriculture, José Emilio Osorio,” said the official of the Government of Cesar through his social networks.
On the other hand, the Senator of the Republic, Didier Lobo Chinchilla, highlighted the qualities of César Augusto Osorio of whom he was a very good friend.
“Criminals ended the life of a man of service, always willing and great host; they immersed a working and thriving family in pain. It hurts the crime of César Augusto Osorio, former mayor of González, with whom I strengthened ties of friendship...”, wrote the congressman on his Twitter account.
“We reject and regret the murder of Cesar Augusto Osorio, former mayor of González, Cesar. We ask the authorities to conduct a prompt and timely investigation to find those responsible for this fact. Solidarity with his family, friends and the entire community of this world,” said the businessman and representative to the Chamber, Eloy Chichí Quintero Romero.
So far the perpetrators of the crime are unknown; however, the authorities are carrying out the respective investigations to establish the motives for the murder. In the area there is the presence of the Eln and the criminal group called 'Los Pelusos'.
