After Maria Elena Ríos, a saxophonist who in 2019 was attacked with sulfuric acid on her face and part of her body, took to her social networks to denounce that the Advisory Council of the Mechanism for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists in Mexico, limited her protection, la Maldita Vecinda joined the requests to resume the precautionary measures for the Oaxacan woman because of the constant risk she runs.

The group that during the last edition of Vive Latino had the special participation of María Elena on the stage, appeared on his Twitter account to appeal to the appropriate authorities about the danger that not only his colleague in the profession, but also his family is being watched by his attacker, as they pointed out in their publication.

“Greetings of Peace and Dance. We call on Mr. Alejandro Encinas, compañera Elena Rios is at risk anywhere in the country where she travels because her aggressor through other people is watching her and her family”, the tweet reads.

His message boomed on the platform, where some users joined the demands for Elena and other victims who have gone through similar situations. Between messages of encouragement and complaints, netizens spoke out in favor of a country without any kind of violence.

Let's take care of Elena Ríos, a great talent from Mexico but above all women, no more violence for women. Not one less”, “It is an obligation to give her justice and an honor, to have a free country for her and all Mexicans, to work, don't leave her alone, it is an order from a Mexican who is in his right to demand justice now”, were some comments.

So far it is not known whether the Advisory Council of the Mechanism for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists in Mexico or any other body has already taken action in this regard. Meanwhile, María Elena is still fighting to demand precautionary measures and does not take her finger off the line to find justice.

It was a few years ago that Maria Elena Ríos announced that she had been notified about the reduction in the protection she had. According to his Twitter post, the decision had been arbitrary because during his recent approaches with the government, the issue would not have been touched upon.

The saxophonist took the opportunity to question the Undersecretary for Human Rights, Alejandro Encinas, about the reasons why the restriction had been taken and hinted that her friendship with the head of the Mechanism, Enrique Irazoque and the Attorney General of Oaxaca, Arturo Peimbert, might have weighed.

“@CMecanismo today notified me that the precautionary measures towards me will be less. Arbitrary decision because last March 29 in the governing board did not agree that. @A_Encinas_R has to do with @eipdh's friendship with @PeimbertArturo!?” , he wrote to on Twitter.

In an interview with De hurry y corre, María Elena Ríos said that it was during a government meeting that she was notified that the resolution was made based on: “To say that I have no danger and that I only have aggressions on the internet, because they don't even know how to use concepts, which is cybernetic violence”.
