(ATR) Surfing is ready to adapt to the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics says Fernando Aguerre, president of the International Surfing Association.

Surfing is due to make its debut in the summer Olympics in Tokyo but Aguerre tells Around the Rings surfers are resilient.

"You miss one wave, there is always another," he says, non-plussed by the announcement that the Tokyo Olympics won’t take place this July and August as planned due to corona virus countermeasures.

Aguerre says his federation backs the decision to postpone and looks forward to working with the IOC and Tokyo 2020 to reset the surfing for whichever new dates are chosen.

He also comments on the impact this global health crisis has on him and the sport of surfing.
