Basketball to Javelin

Following their victory over Argentina in basketball, Team USA returned to their hotel ensconced in the rarefied air of—the Javelin train.

James Harden and USA Basketball both posted pictures of the event.

Kobe Bryant and LeBron James are said to have passed out sweet treats to other passengers on the train.

Rio Olympic Flag Handover

The Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, will return to his city with the Olympic Flag on August 13.

Paes’ office confirmed his travel details on Tuesday. Joining Paes are Rio 2016 president Carlos Arthur Nuzman, Rio state governor Sergio Cabral and Brazilian Olympians.

Following the Flag’s arrival, Paes will hold a press conference officially marking Rio de Janeiro as the Olympic host city.

In keeping with tradition, Paes will accept the flag from his London counterpart, Boris Johnson, at the closing ceremony on August 12.

Cameroonians Go Missing

Seven athletes from Cameroon have disappeared from London 2012, possibly on purpose to claim asylum, according to team officials.

The Olympians, five boxers, a swimmer and a footballer, were reported missing earlier in the week. Cameroonian team officials confirmed the reports on Tuesday.

"What began as rumor has finally turned out to be true," David Ojong, the Cameroonian chef de mission said. "Seven Cameroonian athletes who participated at the 2012 London Olympic Games have disappeared from the Olympic Village."

British Olympic immigration rules have not yet been broken – competitors, coaches and their families are allowed to stay in the country until early November.

Ojong has reportedly met with Cameroon sports minister Adoum Garoua at the Olympic Village on Tuesday to discuss the situation and see what steps to take.

Travel Report

Wednesday is expected to see congestion ease up on the transport network as events spread around the city are either finished or decreased in number of matches such as beach volleyball at Horse Guards Parade.

However, basketball's knockout rounds start at North Greenwich Arena, and the Jubilee line is expected to be busy late into the evening.

The Olympic Road Network is still in place, so driving through the city is not advised. Transport for London still remind people to take public transport, especially to enjoy the many sights, shops and theatres the city has to offer.
