Jordan Olympic Committee signs agreement with Peace and Sport to support refugees in Jordan

08 December 2017; Monaco: The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) and Peace and Sporthave today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote sport as a tool forsocial development in refugee camps in Jordan.

The agreement, signed at the 10th Peace and Sport International Forum in Monaco, will seethe JOC and its National Federations join forces with Peace and Sport to strengthen the "LiveTogether" programme in Za’atari and expand into other refugee camps in Jordan.

The "Live Together" programme, launched by Peace and Sport, the United Nations HighCommissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the JOC earlier this year, brings togetherstakeholders from the world of sport and the peace-building community to work side by sidefor social development. The programme aims to increase the quality and quantity of sportactivities in refugee camps around the world and address the educational, social anddevelopmental needs of refugees of all ages through sport.

The JOC will provide local expertise and logistical support to ensure that sport can play ahealing role for children within refugee camps in Jordan.
