The Government of Mexico City and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) announced the Metro-Energía project, which aims to modernize the electricity supply system of the lines 1, 2 and 3.
At a press conference, the head of government of the country's capital, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, indicated that the parastatal and its administration will work together on a single work for which 4.5 billion pesos are being allocated.
For the local president, the importance of the work lies in the fact that the city is sought to have the most robust electricity grid by creating the Buen Tono High Voltage Substation.
Meanwhile, Guillermo Calderón Aguilera, general director of the Metro Collective Transport System, said that to date there is already 37% progress in civil works, as well as 26% in electromechanical matters.
“The Metro-Energía project involves the modernization of the electricity supply system for Lines 1, 2 and 3; today it has 37% progress in civil works and 29.3% in electromechanical works,” said the official account of the transport system.
Moments later, the engineer Guillermo Nevares Elizondo, representative of the CFE, said that the work is being carried out in record time; in addition, he was ahead of the data and announced that there are already supplies for the construction of this work, which will require approximately 111 thousand meters of high voltage cable.
Meanwhile, almost 53 years after its creation, the capital's administration also announced that it will be the first to modernize the line that runs from Pantitlán to the Observatory.
According to the press release issued by the unit responsible for public transport, the work will be based on the replacement of high-voltage wiring, renovation of tracks and the incorporation of new trains in 2023.
Once the preparatory phase is over, the major intervention will take place, which is projected to take place in two stages: from Pantitlán to Salto del Agua in a first phase to begin in the second half of this year and after Balderas to the Observatory in January 2023.
The City Government will have some mobility options for affected users such as: Metrobus units, a trolleybus route, RTP service from Pantitlán to Observatorio in both directions, Line 9 of the metro that goes from Tacubaya to Pantitlán and Lines 2 and 4 of the Metrobus.
It should be remembered that Line 1 of the Mexico City Metro runs from Pantitlán to the Observatorio, has a total length of 18 kilometers and 828 meters and a total of 20 stations; 7 correspondence stations, 12 transit stations and 1 terminal. In total, the investment to modernize the pink line will amount to 37.3 million pesos, which will be paid by the revenues generated by the Metro, with this aim to reduce the transfer time from Pantitlán to the Observatory to 30 minutes.
