Guillermo Bermejo seeks to raise two million signatures for the Constituent Assembly: “Not a step back!

The former parliamentarian of Peru Libre, Guillermo Bermejo spoke on his official Twitter account expressing his full support for the new Constituent Assembly that has been talked about several months ago and commented that two million signatures are going to be collected.

“With dreams intact, we are going to collect the two million signatures to call for a Constituent Assembly. Not a step back!” , you read in your account.

As you remember, until last year, the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo had in his schedule to hold a new Constituent Assembly, but it seems that it remained in 'stand by'. At that time, November 2021, he assured that it is a popular demand that is in the hands of the “organized people”.

“I think it is important to tell them about the National Constituent Assembly, which is a popular cry. We said it before the Congress of the Republic and today it is at the request of the people. The organized people will have to take their own path,” he said in the final part of his presentation at the Plaza de Armas in Ayacucho.

The Head of State thus included the issue of the possible change to the Political Constitution of Peru in force since 1993.

On the other hand, Vladimir Cerrón saw this alternative as a single 'permanent and peaceful' option. “'The only permanent and peaceful solution for the country is a Constituent Assembly, where social classes reach consensus, abuse and discrimination end. We warn you: If there is no change of Constitution in the country, there is no change of anything!” assured.

In addition, he reaffirmed that it is the right wing that “activated” the stoppage of carriers because they lost “the battle in Parliament”.

“The right wing lost the battle in Parliament and, taking advantage of a strike by peasants and transporters, activated a criminal political, judicial and social front, against the President, who unfortunately gave an advantage by not implementing the government program he promised in the campaign,” he continued.

He ended by mentioning that “with a single leftist policy well implemented, the right wing would be licking its wounds.”

“I wouldn't have time to think, conspire, let alone execute, but the President gives them all the advantage, mistakenly thinking that the 'good' right-wing could exist,” he said.

In other tweets, Cerrón kept his opinion on everything that was happening, but he says that Pedro Castillo is not doing what he promised in the campaign. He also mentioned that “with a single leftist policy well implemented, the right wing would be licking its wounds.”

On the other hand, he questioned the people who have been present at the marches demanding solutions from Pedro Castillo in the face of the wave of violence in the interior of the country.

“The people must summon themselves to the squares demanding the Constituent Assembly to draw up the new Constitution. The State will never be able to regulate the prices of gasoline, fertilizers, tolls, etc., with the 1993 Constitution. The stone items of 58-65, forbid it,” he said.

In addition to these messages, Vladimir Cerrón did not hesitate to criticize the Congress of the Republic led by María del Carmen Alva.

“The only obstructive institution has been the Congress of the Republic, which has paralyzed the country, censoring ministers, trying vacancies, presenting unproductive motions, which generates instability and has a negative impact on the future of the people,” he said.

The bill proposed by the president in his speech of 28 July, when he assumed the presidency of the Republic last year, has not yet been proposed.
