“Let the mouth shut up”: Riva Palacio responded to the governor of Zacatecas over accusations against journalists

David Monreal, governor of Zacatecas, lashed out at the national media, whom he criticized for their coverage of violence in the state, to the extent that they became “promoters of criminal organizations.”

His comment provoked the reaction of various journalists and people linked to the human rights defender's office, who asked him to present evidence or retract, even to apologize if necessary.

This was the case with Raymundo Riva Palacio during his most recent column for Ejecentral, in which he pointed out that if any branch has been highlighted Monreal, is precisely in the area of security, but unfortunately because of its “consistent inability to face it”.

The writer and political analyst also assured that his most recent allegations against his counterparts, colleagues and friends are the result of his attempts to stop insecurity in his state, to the extent that he even appeals to God for peace.

“Governor Monreal's impudence is one of anthology,” Riva Palacio wrote after assuring that the politician, brother of Ricardo Monreal, president of Jucopo in the Senate, wants to “elope forward.”

Riva Palacio asked the governor, whose statements he considered ambiguous, to present the evidence of his statements and inform the local authorities so that they can initiate the corresponding investigations without consideration, or else “keep his mouth shut”.

“Perhaps this will be a little late, because with so many absurd statements and finding guilty in those who have no responsibility for insecurity and violence, no further murders of journalists in their state can be ruled out,” the writer continued.

Finally, he assured that, if his assumption is correct, the ideal would be to denounce the governor of Zacatecas as “accomplice for his irresponsible responsibility” in the fight against organized crime.

At the end of March, David Monreal, governor of Zacatecas, lashed out at reporters and the media for allegedly becoming the “promoters of criminal organizations”.

Monreal's words were made during a press conference from the hangar of the Ministry of Public Security, where the politician insisted on the existence of a “cursed legacy” that has hindered his government's actions in the area of security.

In this context, he also assured that there are many “false redeemers” who seek prominence with the issue of public safety and the violence that their state is experiencing.

It was then that David Monreal accused journalists of broadcasting the “horror scenes” carried out by organized crime, noting that they could even have been labeled as “promoters of criminal organizations.”

He also indicated that these media, without specifying names, do not have an agreement with criminal groups, but he assured that if this assumption is a reality, he would face a delicate situation.

A reporter asked for the floor and rebuked Monreal for the names of these media, but he did not receive any direct response, and during Monreal's evasion, he only made different allegations against the national broadcast of the media.

“I am not referring to those from here (Zacatecas), of what is sometimes published in national media or in another, which ask them to publish this or that action or thing. So, I am referring to the dissemination or promotion that, of no one is unknown, because then, as they say, the note sells”, concluded Monreal.
