They emphasized that in 2015 Abraham Torres Tranquilino, one of the aggressors, indicated in his expanded statement 5 participants in the crime

Seven years after the multi-homicide committed on July 31, 2015 in the Narvarte neighborhood in Mexico City, families of the victims presented new findings in the case, which suggest that at least two more people participated in the crime, however, to date they remain in impunity.

In this case, in which Olivia Alejandra Negrete, Mile Virginia Martín, Yesenia Quiroz Alfaro, Nadia Vera Pérez and Rubén Espinosa were deprived of their lives, the authorities prosecuted and convicted three men. However, the victims' defense always asked the authorities to investigate the probable involvement of at least two others subjects, who remain free and without any arrest warrant.

At a press conference held on March 30, 2022, the families of the victims, as well as their representatives, Article 19 and the Action Group for Human Rights and Social Justice, stressed that the then capital's attorney's office did not clarify the motive for the crime and hid evidence that led to the identification of the participation of more people.

They emphasized that Abraham Torres Tranquilino, one of the aggressors, extended his statement in September 2015 in which he pointed out 5 participants in the attack, who traveled to the Narvarte colony distributed in a navy blue Suburban van and another sedan type vehicle, however, on this second car was never conducted an investigation.

“The authorities always dismiss the value of these new findings, which are the result of the work of families and not the work that falls to the Office of the Prosecutor,” said Paty Espinosa, sister of photojournalist Rubén Espinosa. (PHOTO: Article 19)

The then Attorney General's Office failed to investigate these data, and the current Prosecutor's Office has not taken them into account either in its investigation or in the suggestions of the Context Analysis. Therefore, they explained that according to the new findings, the report of facts presented by the then Mexico City Attorney's Office should be dismissed as biased and biased.

According to the version offered by the Attorney General's Office during the term of Miguel Ángel Mancera, only three people committed the multi-homicide: César Omar Martínez Zendejas, Daniel Pacheco, and Abraham Torres Tranquilino, who reportedly arrived in a Suburban van to the apartment located on Luz Savignón Street.

The attackers reportedly used that same van to escape, in addition to a red Mustang vehicle that was stolen from Mile Virginia, the official version concluded, without clearly establishing the motive for the attack.

At the conference on March 30, they pointed out that the new findings are worrying because they show serious omissions in research and manipulation of evidence.

Family members argued on Wednesday that after the crime, valuable information was lost to understand the case because at that time the Public Prosecutor's Office erroneously requested data from two mobile numbers associated with other key participants in the multi-homicide, making it difficult to identify them.

Relatives and human rights defenders accused that almost seven years after the crimes, there is a lack of substantial progress in the case, which has 8 different hypotheses. For this reason, they demanded that the current Prosecutor's Office should conduct proceedings that define or discard lines of investigation, without prioritizing one for the other, and thereby achieve truth and justice to all those involved.

Finally, they pointed out that more than two years ago, the Attorney General, Ernestina Godoy committed to the families to hold regular meetings and despite the fact that on November 25, 2021 they formally requested a meeting, the official has not yet responded.
