The celebrations for the triumph of the Peruvian national team, which managed to qualify for the repechage to win a place in the Qatar 2022 World Cup after winning 2-0 against Paraguay, continued on March 30 and the program En Boca de Todos dedicated a special edition to Peruvian football.
However, it was his son Estéfano who took everyone's gaze and applause when he heard him sing the song 'Contigo Peru', a song played by the remembered Arturo Zambo Cavero and Oscar Avilés, and whose lyrics were written by Augusto Polo Campos.
The youngest of the children of Flor Polo and Néstor Villanueva sang a loud voice the song that is considered by both locals and strangers as Peru's second national anthem. The host Tula Rodríguez did not hesitate to get excited and encouraged him to continue singing, as the little one showed that he knew every word by heart.
At the end, Susy Díaz's daughter was very happy and grateful for the legacy left by her father. As we know, every time the Peruvian national team plays, every fan sings that song to support them and this last March 29 after the victory against Paraguay, the National Stadium vibrated with hearing the song sound.
“I was very excited, I got goosebumps like many Peruvians. I remember my father a lot and the good thing is that he is alive in the hearts of all Peruvians. Thank you for loving my father,” said Florcita Polo about to shed some tears.
He also looked up and addressed his late father to dedicate a few words to him. “Dad, for doing the anthem of Peru because really 'Contigo Peru' is the anthem of all Peru and of all Peruvians who are here and abroad.”
Let us remember that Augusto Polo Campos died on January 17, 20218, but not before being recognized internationally for being the composer of various musical themes mainly because of his originality and identity that he represented. Unfortunately, he lost the battle against diabetes and at the age of 85 died.
'CONTIGO PERU' LYRICS
When they wake up, my eyes and I see, that I continue to live, with you Peru.
Excited, I thank heaven, for giving me life, with you Peru.
You are very big and you will continue to be, because we are all, with you Peru.
On my chest I wear your colors and there are my loves, Contigo Peru.
We are your children and we will unite; and thus we will triumph, with you Peru.
United the coast, united the mountains, united the jungle, with you Peru.
United the work, united the sport, united the North, the Centre and the South.
To triumph Peruvians, that we are brothers, that victory is made, our gratitude.
I will give you life and when I die, I will join the earth, Contigo Peru.
