Eugenio Derbez confessed that Blanca Guerra mocked his work: “It was very disrespectful”

At the 94th Annual Academy Awards, the famous comedian, actor and producer, Eugenio Derbez, became a national trend after being at the 2022 Oscars and celebrating the triumph of the film CODA, in which he acted and which won three different categories: “Best Film”, “Best Supporting Actor” and “Best Adapted Screenplay”.

After that, the story has looked for some time in its very busy schedule to share a little of its enthusiasm with some magazine programs, this time after the success achieved by being part of the cast of the best film of the year, Derbez offered a few words to the show journalist, Gustavo Adolfo Infante on his YouTube channel and which was taken up by Sale el Sol where he is also a presenter.

There, the performer who gave life to Bernardo Villalobos at CODA expressed his feelings after the Oscar gala and took the opportunity to delve into various stages of his life, as a bittersweet anecdote that to this day causes him sadness and anger.

And the fact is that Alessandra Rosaldo's partner remembered that one of the people who most demerits her career in search of projection in Hollywood was the actress Blanca Guerra, who pointed to mock the film she directed, No Returns Accepted.

“It really hurt me that the opportunity was taken away and Blanca Guerra not only disqualified her, but I invited her to a private presentation and it was very disrespectful,” said Eugenio Derbez.

Eugenio Derbez recalled that the actress who gave life to Soledad Hernández in the Televisa production, Tres Veces Ana, was invited to a private theater to watch, at that time, her most recent production where she acted as director and performer, but that the actress made fun of her work.

“I remember that I was behind her, sitting in the dark, I was accompanied by another person from the Academy and at the moment when all of us who saw that film were crying, which was the end, when you find out that the girl is sick, at that moment, I wanted to see her reaction and I see how she lets out laughter along with him count on who I was going”, he stressed.

To conclude his speech with Gustavo Adolfo Infante, the producer said that at the time he was affected by this reaction: “They start to comment and I realize that they are mocking and you don't know what hurt me, because he told me immediately that he was almost forced to see the film because I insisted a lot and my producer, but hey, are things that happen and are fortunately overcome”.

For their part, the drivers of the morning show of Sale el Sol sought to defend Eugenio Derbez and lashed out against Blanca Guerra: “How rude,” said Gustavo Adolfo Infante and “What a jerk to treat Eugenio like that,” Alex Kaffie stressed.

The production, which was recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is a low-budget production that initially appeared at the Sundance festival in 2021. According to official figures, CODA raised 25 million dollars, and according to estimates by specialists, it would have had a budget of 10 million dollars.

On this occasion, and as Eugenio Derbez has already mentioned in various interventions, I seek to get out of comedy, to try to give life to a character in a different facet. There the 60-year-old histrion played Bernardo Villalobos (Mr. V.), a talented music teacher who plays the piano and motivates his student Ruby Ross, who is the daughter of deaf and dumb parents, to fulfill her dream of being a singer.
