Miami, 25 Mar A score of women artists, most of them of Latin American origin and united by Fiber Art or textile art, present their works in the exhibition “The Conductive Thread II”, which opens this Friday in Doral, a city next to Miami (USA). The exhibition was organized by the Cultural Institute of Mexico in collaboration with the Festival of Hispanic American Art and Culture (Hispafest) and the consulates general of Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador in Miami, among other institutions. The Museum of Contemporary Art in Doral (DORCAM) is hosting the works of the group of 21 artists selected for this exhibition, which began to coincide with International Women's Day (8 March), first at the venues of the participating consulates. Pilar Acuna, Yelitza Barrios, Sharon Berebichez, Carola Bravo, Natasha Duwin, Marina Font, Andrea Garcia, Karla Kantorovich, Male Leon, Androna Linartas, Maria Lino, Marcela Marcuzzi, Aurora Molina, Evelyn Politzer, Natalia Schonowski, Pamela Suasti, Flora Sutton, Pilar Tobon, Laura Villareal, Daniela Viotti and Silvia Yampur are the artists of “El conductive thread II”. According to a statement from the Cultural Institute of Mexico in Miami, “The Conductor Thread II” shows the journey of various women and their personal development as artists who give life to new textures through textile art. Traditionally, women have been responsible for the work done with fiber and fabric and their works have been a cultural representation throughout the history of mankind. The nobility of materials, intertwined with the strength or subtlety of their artistic expression, has achieved in the fiber a common thread that dialogues between the contemporary expression represented by the artists selected for this exhibition.
