New Sponsors for Rio

Sadia and Batavo secured the Packaged Foods and Dairy Products sponsorship categories for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Rio 2016 made the announcement on Tuesday, along with BRF, the umbrella company for Sadia and Batavo.

"The agreement will be an excellent platform to engage the population and strengthen our commitment to athletes and the sports community across the country," Rio 2016 President Carlos Arthur Nuzman said.

MLS Adds 2nd New York Team

Manchester City FC will team with the New York Yankees to bring a 20th franchise to Major League Soccer.

New York City Football Club are expected to begin play in 2015 at an "interim home" until construction of a new stadium, likely at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, can be completed.

"We proudly welcome two of the most prestigious professional global sports organizations to Major League Soccer," MLS Commissioner Don Garber said Wednesday in a statement announcing the partnership.

"The New York area is home to more than 19 million people, and we look forward to an intense cross-town rivalry between New York City Football Club and the New York Red Bulls that will captivate this great city."

Under the terms of their agreement, Man City will be majority owner of the club with the Yankees an active member of the ownership group.

MLS is yet to reveal the franchise fee paid for its long-awaited rival to the Red Bulls, but reports are estimating the amount at $100 million.

"In the Yankees, we have found the absolute best partner for developing a world-class sports organization and a winning team that will carry the New York City Football Club name with pride," said Blues CEO Ferran Soriano.

Olympic Legacy Sponsor

The Olympic Legacy Charity "Join In," announced its first sponsor, BT.

The British marketing group, will work closely with the LOCOG backed charity to run sports and other social events in the London area as Olympic Legacy.

Another aim of the program is to encourage volunteers to work with local sports clubs in the area, as well as other community based efforts.

BT will also sponsor the GreatCity Games in Manchester as part of the operation. Another event is poised to take place on July 19th, at the newly re-opened Olympic Park celebrating the efforts of Olympic Volunteers.
