Jakarta, Indonesia, November 21, 2017: The organisers of the Olympic Council of Asia’s 18th Asian Games in Indonesia in 2018 are stepping up their promotional campaign by hosting the Asian Games International Media Forum next week.

The two-day forum will take place on November 27-28 and will include venue tours of the two co-host cities: Jakarta and Palembang, capital of South Sumatra province.

The media forum follows the first World Broadcasters’ Meeting held in Jakarta from November 14-16, and precedes the Chefs de Mission Seminar for team leaders from the OCA’s 45 National Olympic Committees set for December 13-14.

The media forum will open on Monday, November 27 at the Hotel Century in downtown Senayan – location of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) sports complex, which will be the main hub of the 18th Asian Games.

Organising committee INASGOC will make a series of presentations, including a general overview of preparations, media services, sports and venues, broadcasting, accreditation, arrival and departure procedures, customs clearance, accommodation and transportation.

After an afternoon visit to GBK, the media officers from the NOCs and representatives of media organisations will depart for Palembang – a one-hour flight from the capital.

On Tuesday morning there will be a tour of the Jakabaring Sports City, which has vast experience of hosting international multi-sport events such as the 26th South East Asian (SEA) Games in 2011, the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games in 2013 and the 17th ASEAN University Games for South East Asian countries in 2014.

The delegates will return to Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon and call in at the new Athletes’ Village in Kemayoran, as well as competition venues near the village, before the official dinner closes the forum.

The 18th Asian Games will run from August 18 to September 2, 2018, and will involve 10,000 athletes from 45 NOCs in 40 sports and 462 events, plus e-sports as a demonstration sport.

It will be the second time Indonesia has hosted the OCA’s showpiece event, following the 4th Asian Games in Jakarta in 1962.
