Nippon Life and NTT Become Presenting Partners of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay

The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo

2020) announced today that it has concluded an agreement with the Nippon Life Insurance Company

(Nippon Life) and NIPPON TELEGRAPH AND TELEPHONE CORPORATION (NTT) under which they

will serve as Presenting Partners of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay partnership programme consists of three tiers, of which Presenting

Partners—the highest tier—are permitted to recruit torchbearers and conduct promotional activities using

the Olympic Torch Relay emblem.

Hiroshi Shimizu, President of Nippon Life, commented: "It is a tremendous honour and privilege to

participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay as a presenting partner. Nippon Life has offices in all

prefectures of Japan, including areas affected by disasters and outlying islands. Our 70,000 employees

across Japan are striving to build stronger relationships with our 12 million customers by remaining

closely involved in each customer’s life for the long term. This is being accomplished through activities to

Furthermore, Nippon Life and the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic

Games have been jointly hosting successive events for the "Nippon Life Insurance

Countrywide Caravan for All 2020" which launched in July 2018, and will continue making

appearances in each of Japan’s 47 prefectures for approximately 2 years. A total of 14

events have already been held in the Kinki and Kyushu regions and Okinawa prefecture, and

more than 50,000 people have participated to get into the spirit of the Olympics and

Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. Nippon Life is planning to include activities themed around

the Tokyo 2020 Olympic torch in regions the caravan will visit going forward so that everyone

across Japan can have a first-hand experience early on.
