(ATR) PyeongChang 2018 recently received a donation from the international holding company GS Group for preparations for the next Winter Games. The amount has yet to be announced.

"We deeply appreciate GS Group’s decision to support the Games and help us deliver an event that the whole nation can be proud of. We are confident that PyeongChang 2018 preparations will be improved and draw more public attention through the support of GS Group,"POCOG President Lee Hee-beom said in a statement.

The PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games will begin on Feb. 9 and conclude on Feb. 25, 2018.In addition, the Paralympic Games will take place on March 9-18, 2018.

BWF Extends Partnership with Total

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has extended its partnership with Total to expand the company’s promotion to additional events.

"I am pleased, on behalf of the BWF, to welcome Total as a partner for the Dubai World Superseries Finals. As the season finale of the MetLife BWF World Superseries, this prestigious tournament brings together badminton’s best performers and some of our most celebrated stars. In this Olympic year, we are also guaranteed to witness the Rio 2016 champions among those vying for a share of the lucrative jackpot," BWF President Poul-Erik Høyer said in a statement.

"We are confident that Total will see the value of partnering with us on this event and BWF thanks Total for its continued commitment to badminton".

The energy company will now act as the official sponsor to the Dubai World Superseries Finals in this and next year. Since 2015 Total has sponsored all major BWF events including the BWF World Championships, BWF Sudirman Cup and the BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals.

British Olympic Association Announce New Commercial Director

Tim Ellerton has been named the new Commercial Director of the British Olympic Association.

Ellerton had previously worked as the Global Sponsorship Manager at Heineken for eight years and was responsible for some of the company’s main sports properties including the Rugby World Cup and Formula 1.

"I’ve enjoyed my time at Heineken hugely and hope that experience will serve me well in the new role. It’s a privilege to be joining a successful and winning team in all regards and working with an outstanding portfolio of existing partners," Ellerton said in a statement.

Prior to Heineken, Ellerton worked as the Sponsorship Manager for Coca-Cola Great Britain where he controlled more global properties such as the Olympic Games as well as sponsorship of the Football League.

"It’s an exciting time for Olympic sport in the UK and I’m delighted to be joining the BOA," said Ellerton.

"Following on from the success both on and off the field of the play over the past few years, there is a fantastic challenge to build on those accomplishments and one I’m really looking forward to."

ITTF Partners with Seamaster for December Events

Seamaster is now the official sponsor of the ITTF Star Awards and World Tour Grand Finals.

"The ITTF is very happy that Seamaster has come on board for our two prestigious end-of-year events. Seamaster is becoming a very valuable partner for the ITTF after also sponsoring the successful Women's World Cup earlier this year in USA," ITTF President Thomas Weikert said in a statement.

Along with being the official sponsor, Seamaster will present the ITTF Star Point and Breakthrough Star Awards during the upcoming awards ceremony.

"We are thrilled to have such a big company like Seamaster to be involved with our two events in Doha. It's with great pleasure that for Qatar we are able to secure some support, and also to secure such high level events with the long term and massive support of our Olympic Committee and government," Qatar Table Tennis Association President & ITTF Deputy President Khalil Al Mohannadi.

Both the ITTF Awards and World Tour Grand Finals will be held in Doha, Qatar beginning on Dec. 8. The World Tour Finals will conclude on Dec.11.

Veissman marks 25 years as FIL Partner

Beginning in January Veissmann will reach a quarter century as an official sponsor to the International Luge Federation.

The heating system manufacturer began its partnership with the FIL in 1993 and has since increased the market share of Viessmann Luge World Cup broadcasts by over 20 percent and increased company awareness from 50 percent to 80 percent.

Veissman have also been a huge contributor to the sponsorship of Olympic Athletes by providing their ensemble for the Games. Some of the athletes include Olympic Gold medalist Tatjana Hüfner, 2010 Olympic Champion Felix Loch and 2014 Olympic Gold medalist Tobias Wendl.

Veissman plans to continue to support the FIL by sponsoring the 47th FIL World Championships in Innsbruck, Austria next year. The FIL World Championships will begin on Jan. 27 and conclude on Jan. 29.

Dentsu’s Profits Up Due to Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Sales

The official marketing agency for Tokyo 2020, Dentsu, has been earning major profit due to sponsorship sales of the next summer Games. The largest advertising/marketing company in the world had a total gross profit of 9.2 percent during the first nine months of the 2016 fiscal year (FY). A portion of that – 0.3 percent in Q3 FY2016 - was driven by sponsorship sales of the 2020 Games.
