In various denominations, shapes and colors, a wide variety of coins are offered online at exorbitant prices. In this sense, in this digital space we will present an example of a piece that is priced at a high cost due to a coinage error, according to a person who bragged the piece on a commercial platform.

According to a specialist, coins must contain a series of elements to be able to acquire greater value, one of those characteristics is a different piece or with a minting error, as is the case of a five-peso copy of Francisco Primo Really.

Given this, here we will reveal one more example of an old piece of low denomination, which is presumed by a trading platform in more than 90 thousand pesos. It should be remembered that experts in the field recommend visiting a numismatics store to find out the real cost of coins.

According to the Banco de México (Banxico), it is a piece that was put into circulation since 1970 and has a historical character on one of its faces. It has a cupronickel composition, that is, it was minted in copper and nickel. Its denomination is 1 weight and has a diameter of 29.0 mm.

What is the error and cost?

The piece is offered up to 95 thousand pesos by the Mercado Libre site, according to a person who shared the image on the platform.

The alleged coinage error is displayed on the back of the piece, as the character's face is not centered and the letters “un peso” appear very much on the edge of it.

Therefore, a citizen markets the piece through the trading platform, but at a stratospheric price.

According to Banxico, the piece shows on its reverse the effigy of the generalissimo, José María Morelos y Pavón. It also has the inscription of “a peso”, year of issue and symbol of the mint.

While on its obverse it bears the typical National Shield of the eagle devouring a snake and the phrase “United Mexican States”.

Remember that even though people can trade their coins at the cost they prefer, it is advisable to visit an expert to find out the real cost of the parts, as well as elements that are required to increase their value.

One specialist mentioned for the media that, one of the most important elements to know if a currency is worth more, has to do with issuance, since the rarer they are, the greater value they acquire.

The expert and owner of a numismatics shop mentioned that currency is not valid for seniority but for issuance, because the shorter the issuance, the more value it acquires.

For example: a one-peso coin also with the effigy (image) of José María Morelos y Pavón, but from 1969 it can be sold on the market from 15 thousand pesos to 50 thousand pesos, since they are very scarce.

However, all prices will vary according to the minting material they present.
