Luis de Llano: Governorate Commission failed its statement regarding Sasha Sokol

Following the statement released by producer Luis de Llano, where he talks about the relationship he had with Sasha Sokol as she was a teenager and he was a man 25 years older, the National Commission for the Prevention and Eradication of Violence against Women CONAVIM condemned her text.

And the fact is that the television producer in his letter highlighted and reiterated that “he has not committed any crime”, although technically a relationship between a person of legal age and a minor could have other legal implications.

“CONAVIM reproves the type of media statements made by producer Luis de Llano Macedo, who was accused of abusing from a position of power to maintain a sex-affective relationship with a minor,” the federal agency published on its website.

He also stressed the importance of always believing in the testimony of women of all ages who report their aggressors, even if time has passed since their abuse.

“From this commission we emphasize the importance of believing in girls, adolescents and women who denounce, regardless of the time that has passed, or who the aggressor is,” the agency under the Ministry of the Interior disseminated.

To give context to its position, CONAVIM said that Mexico is experiencing a delicate situation, since according to figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), 111 girls and adolescents were victims of femicide last year, 166 were victims of intentional homicide and more than 3,250 of malicious injuries. In addition, 259 girls and adolescents were victims of the crime of trafficking in persons.

Communiqué 037/2022, available on the Government's press page, states that Luis de Llano's case will be evaluated by the authorities.

“In the case mentioned, it will be the corresponding authorities who define the scope of the alleged crime and the consequences that this will entail.

Mexicans cannot be ignored by the level of violence that women and girls face because of their gender, nor should we allow practices and discourses that reproduce and justify such violence.”

After almost a month after Sasha Sokol released details of the relationship she had with the television producer, in the statement where she said that De Llano “put her in his bed instead of taking care of her”, actress Julissa's brother spoke out.

In his defense, the creator of Timbiriche, Garibaldi and Kabah, said that the romantic relationship he had with the singer from Rueda mi mente was “free” and consensual, besides that he has never committed any crime.

“First of all I offer an apology to Sasha Sokol, if she felt any offense with my comments, and also for having made public information that pertains exclusively to the private sphere of two people.

The events cater to the personal lives of two public figures. My relationship with Sasha Sokol was always open and transparent on the part of her and her family,” he wrote.

De Llano stressed that “at all times and under all circumstances we offer each other respect, companionship, empathy, love and understanding”.

The son of Luis de Llano Palmer, a pioneer of television in Mexico, said that in the course of his life he has not committed any crime and condemned the accusations that have been made about him in different communication spaces.

“In my life I have always been truthful, I have not committed any crime, nor have I acted immorally. The events described and narrated in national and international print, digital and audiovisual media that refer to me, and published since March 8 are mere and false speculations,” he added.
