On March 22, artists such as Eugenio Derbez, Kate del Castillo, Natalia Lafourcade, Omar Chaparro, Ana Claudia Talancón, Rubén Albarrán, Barbara Morí and Omar Chaparro joined forces to launch the campaign through social networks Sélvame del Tren, which aims for AMLO to stop the construction of Section 5 South of its megaproject after the route modifications that were made.

Section 5 South has a length of 60.3 kilometers and it had been said that it would be an overpass, even, it was already being built on federal highway 307 Playa del Carmen-Tulum. However, in order for the works to be completed before 2023, it will now pass at ground level through the jungle area that runs parallel to that federal road.

Celebrities criticized that the decision to modify this section was carried out without taking into account the consequences it will have on the country's ecosystem.

The Mayan Train is destroying the jungle. Our natural heritage. Thousands, hundreds of trees have already been cut down and there could be millions more. Rivers and cenotes are being polluted. And it is worth mentioning that in that area there is the longest underground river system in the entire Tierra plant,” the celebrities say at the beginning of the broadcast video.

The Sélvame del Tren campaign was criticized by López Obrador, who called the participating artists “fifis”, “pseudo-environmentalists”, “conservatives” and pointed out that they would have been paid to launch their speech.
