Anderson Daronco returned to referee after the controversy in the match between Peru and Uruguay for Qatar 2022 Qualifiers. The funny thing about his performance in the Guild vs. Ypiringa for the final of the Gaúcho Championship was that he ended up taking a penalty with the help of the VAR.

The Brazilian returned from Montevideo and was the central judge of the final of the Gaúcho Championship. The match was taking place normally at the Colosso da Lagoa Olympic stadium, however in the discounts of the second half a player from the Guild was knocked down in the area. The referee said to continue the game, but seconds later he was called by the VAR.

After reviewing the images of the replay, Daronco called a penalty in favor of the 'Tricolor'. Lucas Silva Borges was in charge of scoring the goal after crossing the shot. This goal gives his team an advantage in defining the championship. The second leg will be next Saturday, April 2nd.
