The journalist Rob Reyna, a fan of Foo Fighters, is devastated after the death of his idol Taylor Hawkins. While trying to process this sad news, he listened to Infobae about his fanaticism for the Seattle band, why he has millions of followers in the world and what the drummer's death means for the group.

“The fans are devastated. Just five days ago I was in Buenos Aires where they last played at Lollapalooza. It is one of my favorite bands of all my life, knowing that it was unlikely that the band would come to Peru, I chose to see them outside the country to fulfill that dream. I saw the news on Instagram and I am between devastated and incredulous because Taylor was one of the spinal cords of Foo Fighters. They are one of the great rock bands that exist on the planet. Taylor was the drummer, but he was also Dave Grohl's best friend,” he said.

“His death is a pain that cannot be described, it is as if a member of your family had died, that's how I see it. I'm just processing the news,” added the journalist.

Foo Fighters never performed in Peru, however, their music attracted thousands of Peruvian followers and just like Rob Reyna, another fan of the band, have expressed their pain in the social networks:

“All my life I have dreamed of seeing them live, five days later I find out that the drummer has died, all I have in mind is how Dave will be at this moment considering that he has already lost a friend like Kurt Cobain,” he told Infobae.

WHEN TAYLOR HAWKINS JOINED THE BAND

“Foo Fighters already had a drummer who didn't live up to what Dave wanted and one day he decides to re-record all the drums on that album, and he fired the drummer. At the time, Taylor was drummer for Alanis Morrisette, but Dave knew it was the drum sound he wanted in his band. He proposed that he join the band and Hawkins accepted,” he revealed.

“Taylor met all the expectations Dave wanted. So much so that she was also his showgirl. In addition, she always accompanied him to interviews. They were always joking. When Hawkins overdosed in 2001, Dave told him he didn't want to lose him. That's when he supposedly quits drugs,” Reyna described the importance Hawkins played in the Foo Fighters.

CONCERT IN ARGENTINA

“The band performed a week ago in Buenos Aires, and I didn't see it any different than Taylor Hawkins. He always showed the same forcefulness, the same punche, he even played Somebody to Love by Queen. He was always very kind to the fans,” said the journalist.

“That concert in Argentina was the last concert, because later they traveled to Paraguay, but the show was canceled due to storm, and the next show was the Estereo Picnic in Colombia, but it was canceled. They were going to finish their tour of South America in Brazil. I was at the last show of the band,” said the communicator.

FUTURE OF THE BAND

“To be honest, Dave Gohl has said many times that every member of the group is irreplaceable. I don't want to anticipate saying something that might be taken badly by the fan community, but it might be a little difficult for the band to continue. What matters right now is how Dave is doing,” said Reyna.

“It's hard to think that I'm never going to see the band again. My life experience with Foo Fighters has been very strong, each song I have adopted for very strong moments in my life. Now that I hear this news, I feel affected,” he said.
