A 17-year-old girl, who wanted to be an accountant, is in serious health after being stabbed by her former lover of the same age, in Villa María del Triunfo (VMT). Today the young man is missing and the victim is in hospitalization at the Guillermo Kaelin de la Fuente hospital, in the same district, fighting for his life.

The couple shared their passion for dancing, they met since childhood and became in love, however, a week ago they ended their relationship, which would have caused some arguments that ended with an attempt at femicide.

THE DAY OF THE ATTACK

The events took place on Monday, March 21. The young man entered her house located in the human settlement Rafael Chacón, in VMT. At one point he began to stab her in different parts of the body: in the chest, neck, arms and back, so she has her lungs involved.

The teenager, despite her serious injuries, managed to approach her window and ask for help. The cries for help were heard by one of her neighbors, who helped her down the stairs of the hill where the house is located and they took a motorcycle taxi to the Guillermo Kaelin hospital.

STATE OF HEALTH

A relative of the minor told América Noticias that the victim of the attack is stable, but intubated because both lungs are compromised, which are drained by doctors.

On the other hand, the young man who attacked her is missing. The police went to his house, but he was gone.

What we want is justice. What was the reason? Why did he act like that? With a person who has been like a son to her mother. They've known him for years. What went through your mind to do those things? He was able to kill her,” says one of the young woman's relatives who is not yet safe and will have to receive costly treatment.

In addition, they demand that the young attacker be captured in order to answer for the serious events.

WOMEN VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE

It should be noted that so far in 2022, Peru has recorded 10,522 cases of women victims of various forms of violence, as warned in early March by Supreme Judge Janet Tello Gilardi. The magistrate also stated that in 2021 there were 22,456 women victims of sexual violence, of which 14,507 were girls and adolescents.

In addition, according to figures from the Live Birth Certificate Registration System, in 2021 a total of 1,699 girls aged 12 to 17 became mothers, including 584 children under 14 years of age.

Meanwhile, the Program Officer of Planned Parenthood Global (PPGlobal), Reina Uzcátegui Oviol, pointed out that, so far this year, there are already 70 femicides, referring to women victims of gender-based violence.

She indicated that, in a preliminary report on Peru last February, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women expressed concern about the high level of gender-based violence, which has been exacerbated by the pandemic.

She also said that, although there are many normative advances on access to justice, there are structural and practical barriers that persist as discriminatory stereotypes, limited knowledge of the members of the justice system about women's rights, as well as biases and lack of accountability to ensure procedures with respect to gender approach.
