Camper launches its first collection of sportswear with Kilian Jornet

Madrid, 23 Mar Mallorcan footwear firm Camper launches its first collection of sportswear, a collaboration with Kilian Jornet, considered one of the best mountain athletes in the world, with whom they demonstrate their “concern” to do things in a “different way”. Miguel Fluxá, CEO and member of the fourth generation of the family business, Camper, remains committed to preserving the values that the brand has defined since its inception, in a new experience, which they have been working on for a year and a half. Fluxá explains, in a conversation with Efe, that this was the time to get started in “the world of 'outdoor' - sports that, in addition to physical activity, involve close contact with the natural environment - because it is very close to us”, and recalls that Camper means “peasant”. He was further driven by his determination to create something new to cross paths with athlete Kilian Jornet (Barcelona, 1987), who won fourteen medals at the World Ski Mountaineering Championships between 2008 and 2017 as well as four medals at the World Skyrunning Championships between 2010 and 2018. “The best one to launch a project like this that is very close to the values of both,” says Fluxá. From there, the connection and the “concern to do things differently and create a space to try to improve, doing it with the utmost humility” arose, contributing the capabilities of each one to develop products from the “technology and management by the company and Kilian of the mountain world”. Kilian Jornet has dominated skiing and mountain running for the past 15 years, now he lives in Norway, but grew up in the Pyrenees, the mountains have always been his playground, running, climbing or skiing. NNormal is the name of the brand, which mixes Nor from Norway with Mal de Mallorca, where the Camper factory is located, which presents this autumn-winter '22 unisex collection, which can be purchased in multi-brand stores and on its website. A limited edition focused on footwear, clothing and accessories for mountain running and hiking, made with natural and recycled fibers, a collection that serves to “complement what we already have”, Fluxá said. “We don't want to talk about collections but rather about product ranges because we don't want to promote over-consumption”, which is why there is no intention of launching annual collections and they have focused on “timeless products” and achieving lasting relationships with suppliers with whom they are committed to the “durability and functionality of each product”, he said specified Jornet. The mountaineer works to raise awareness of the need to protect the environment and is very clear that the “repairability of all products is essential in this project”, which is aimed at all types of athletes from those who seek to improve their performance to those who walk in the mountains. “Multifunctional products for different activities” with an essential objective “that last a long time”. A new brand in which the Mallorcan firm, with 140 years of “history and established in 50 countries, has a long-term vision.
