This Sunday, hundreds of protesters marched through some streets in downtown Lima to demand the resignation or vacancy of President Pedro Castillo. At the event, it was possible to see some flags of the Peruvian Aprista Party, as well as other politicians and figures opposed to the government.

Around two thousand people gathered on the Field of Mars from 4 in the afternoon and then moved to the Paseo de los Heroes Navales where, at 6 p.m., there was a rally on a mobile platform with speakers that accompanied the march.

Among the speakers at the rally were Flor de los Milagros Contreras, one of the most seen faces during the mobilizations of the radical group calling itself 'La Resistencia', which has carried out violent acts against some politicians.

Former Fujimorist congressman Fernando Altuve also took the microphone, who called for the nullity of the parties opposing the government. “We must not divide. All each division does is help the opponent,” he said.

Meanwhile, former congressman Mauricio Mulder compared Pedro Castillo's government to a virus and called on protesters to “corner” the government.

The people of Peru must maintain their spirit of taking to the streets to demand more democracy, to corner this government,” he said.

The event culminated with the intonation of the National Anthem at 7 o'clock in the evening.

MOTION FOR VACANCY IN CONGRESS

It should be noted that for next Monday, March 28, the Congress of the Republic scheduled the debate on the motion of vacancy due to moral incapacity against President Pedro Castillo. On that day, the president or his lawyer must go to the plenary session to answer the questions against him.

The admission of the motion to request vacancy was approved on 14 March with 76 votes in favor, 41 against and 1 abstention. The request was promoted by Congressman Jorge Montoya of Popular Renewal and had 50 signatures by, mainly, parliamentarians from the banks of Fuerza Popular, Avanza Pais and Renewal Popular.

The motion is based on some of the following points.

- “According to IPSOS, 60% of Peruvians disapprove of the president's management.”

- “Not telling the truth, a fundamental value that society values in people, and much more so in politicians, is alien to Mr. Castillo”.

- “Their questioned and negative actions in the management of the State”.

- “Contradictions and Lies of President Castillo in the Tax Investigations.” In this part of the livelihood it is mentioned that the president “would have provided false information to the Attorney General's Office in the investigations into the case of irregular promotions to the Armed Forces and in the case of Provías Decentralizado in the award of the Puente Tarata work to the company linked to Karelim López Arredondo”.

- It also states that “Pedro Castillo has unknown his own statements about the meetings he held with Mrs. Karelim López Arredondo at the Government Palace. Thus, in the interview with CNN he publicly declared that he had received it at the Government Palace on October 18, 2021. However, in the answers given to the prosecutor, he totally denies that fact, saying that he 'cannot specify that there is such a meeting'”
