Manchester City, the richest new club in Europe followed by Real Madrid

Madrid, 21 Mar Manchester City is listed as the richest club in Europe for the first time, with revenue of 644 million euros in the 2020-2021 season, followed by Real Madrid, which is in second place with 640.1 million euros. For the first time, the English club leads the annual 'Football Money League' study produced by the consultancy firm Deloitte, in which it relieves Barcelona, which led it last season and City was sixth. The Barça club is now in fourth position, following the drop in its figures from 715 million to 582 million euros. After Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in third place, with €611.4 million, are Manchester United (€558 million), PSG (€556 million), Liverpool (€550 million), Chelsea (€493 million), Juventus (€433 million) and Tottenham Hotspur (€406 million) to complete the top ten positions. Atlético de Madrid remains in thirteenth place with revenues of €332.8 million and Sevilla appears in twenty-first place with a figure of €199.5 million. The study specifies that the City has recorded revenues of 106.4 million in transfers and spent 218.8 million, which implies a negative net balance of 112.4 million, with Real Madrid offering a positive balance of 86.8 million. The white club, which in the average of the two seasons leads the table, had transfer income of €131.4 million and spent 44.7 million euros. Barça's income in this section was 66.8 million euros and expenditures were €90.8 million (negative balance of -24); Atlético de Madrid's income was €77.6 million and expenditures were €67.1 million (+10.5). The total revenue figure of the top 20 clubs is 8,178 million, up from 8,162 in the previous one, affected by the covid-19 pandemic. In the 2018-2019 season, the record was reached at 9.3 billion euros. The study estimates that losses due to the health crisis are around 2 billion euros. According to him, in this edition the English clubs Leicester City (15th), West Ham (16th), Wolverhampton (17th) and Aston Villa (20th) are in the top 20 places.
