INDIAN WELLS, California, USA (AP) - Taylor Fritz ended Andrey Rublev's 13-win run, beating him on Saturday 7-5, 6-4, to seal his passport to the Indian Wells Masters final.
Fritz will face this Sunday against the winner of a spanish duel that took place later. Rafael Nadal, the greatest Grand Slam trophy winner in history, faced 18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz.
Twentieth pre-qualified, Fritz is the first American to sneak into a men's final of this tournament since 2012, when John Isner played the title match. Andre Agassi was the last local to win the Indian Wells trophy, in 2001.
Rublev (7th seed) had won 13 consecutive matches since February 14, including titles in a row in Marseille and Dubai.
