(ATR) Chairman of the IOC 2024 Evaluation Commission Patrick Baumann tells Around the Rings the commission’s reviews of Los Angeles and Paris Olympic bid plans this week were "intense".

"We went systematically through all points in the report," he tells ATR in exclusive comments. "[We] agreed first on the overall concept and then on the key messages for each topic, based on the work done to date by the bid cities as well as on the discussions and the impressions we had from the visits."

The commission began meeting on May 29 in the Olympic capital of Lausanne to review its visits to LA and Paris carried out from May 9-16. Baumann and his fellow IOC delegates spent three days in each city reviewing bid documents, touring venues and meeting with bid leaders to determine which is best suited to host the 2024 Olympics.

The purpose of the four-day meeting was to work on the commission’s report that will be made available to the IOC, bids and public on July 5. Baumann tells ATR the report is "practically done".

"It will now go through formatting, graphic design and a final review by the Commission before its public release on 5 July," Baumann says.

The report will provide a backdrop for the IOC Executive Board meeting in Lausanne July 9-10 that immediately precedes the 2024 Candidate City Debriefing where LA 2024 and Paris 2024 will be able to make their penultimate presentations to the IOC members.

The Evaluation Commission report and presentations by bid leaders could help sway the opinion of IOC members before the final vote at the IOC Session in Lima, Peru on Sep. 13.
