(ATR) The Olympics and World Cup have a combined value of $805 million.
Financial magazine and routine list-maker Forbes Magazine published its "Fab 40" list, which ranks the most valuable sports brands, event brands, teams and athletes.
In the event category, the Summer Olympics, Winter Olympics and World Cup were ranked second, third and fourth respectively at $348 million, $285 million and $170 million. The Super Bowl, valued at $500 million, keeps the top spot as it has every year the rankings have been published.
According to Forbes,an event’s brand value is determined "on revenue-per-event-day."
Seven of the 10 most valuable athlete brands were Olympians. LeBron James is the most valuable athlete brand with a 2014 value of $37 million.
Nike, found on numerous Olympians and an IOC supplier, is the most valuable sports brand at $19 billion.
The New York Yankees, with one Olympian, are worth a reported $521 million, making them the most valuable sports team brand.
