Leading Olympic figures from France will be in Lillehammer to experience the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games [YOG], cheer on all the competing athletes and learn from the event. The French delegation comprises France’s International Olympic Committee [IOC] Members Tony Estanguet and Guy Drut, and French National Olympic Committee President Denis Masseglia.

Tony Estanguet, IOC Member and Olympic Champion, said: "The Youth Olympic Games is a special event that celebrates all that is good about sport and it will be an honour for me to see these young athletes do their best and gain from the wonderful YOG experience. And of course, attending major sports events such as the Lillehammer 2016 Winter YOG is also an important listening and learning opportunity, so we will arrive with excited hearts as well as open minds."

Guy Drut, IOC Member and Olympic Champion, added: "It is 40 years since I won a Gold Medal at the Montreal Olympic Games and that moment changed the course of my life for the better. Watching the next generation of star athletes compete in the special atmosphere of the Youth Olympic Games will be quite emotional for me, and I look forward to cheering them on and witnessing some special performances."

Denis Masseglia, French NOC President, said: "France has one of the largest athlete delegations competing in the Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games and I know it means a great deal to our team of 32 athletes that two of France’s most famous and accomplished Olympians are in Lillehammer to cheer them on."
