Total solar eclipse, northern Mexico will darken

NASA's Solar Wind Alpha Electrons and Protons program said there will be a solar eclipse that will leave Mexico and all of North America in complete darkness.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), announced the upcoming date of this wonderful natural event where scientists believe that the Solar Eclipse will cover a section of the earth equivalent to 200 kilometers above countries in Mexico, the United States and Canada.

This phenomenon occurs when the Earth, Sun and Moon align in such a way that one celestial body casts a shadow on the other. The moon will align itself between planet earth and the sun, causing interference in the passage of sunlight.

Eclipses are usually very curious and striking natural events, especially for those who are fanatical about space, because although they are not rare, it is not very common for them to occur and have effects on territories as wide as the one that can be observed. As a result, fans have started calling the event “The Great Total Solar Eclipse of North America”.

Apparently, the eclipse will cover an area that will cover from Mazatlan, Sinaloa, northern Mexico, to Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada. Experts say it will move northeast through North America.

“A total solar eclipse is one of the most striking cosmic events the universe has to offer us, and the City of Torreón, in the state of Coahuila, Mexico, is a privileged place to observe the eclipse that will occur in two years,” said Dr. Isabel Hawkins, a NASA collaborator.

The time to watch this show will be at 10:51 in the morning according to local Mexican time, however, in the northernmost latitudes, the time will be at 4:00 in the afternoon. In the United States, the event will be held at 1:30 in the afternoon.

Astronomers consider that it will last 4 minutes and 26 seconds approximately, so it is necessary to be on the lookout to be able to enjoy it.

This duration depends on the geographical position of the area covered by the shadow of the Moon, for example, at the equator it may last up to 7 minutes, however, the time decreases as it moves south or north of the equator.

The venue, chosen by NASA, will be the Planetarium of the city of Torreón. For this reason, the director of the Torreón Eclipses Committee said that in order to prepare for this event, teachers will be trained in the state universities, as well as conditioning tourist areas with NASA telescopes that will make this event more visible.

On December 4, 2021, there was a total solar eclipse which lasted only 2 minutes. It should be noted that it was unfortunately only appreciated in the South Pole , which is why NASA, through its official website and its official Youtube channel broadcast this event.

Therefore, it will probably broadcast live from its official pages so that those who cannot travel, are not left out of this show.
