Finally, the Bob's Burgers film will arrive this 2022 after being officially announced for the first time five years ago. This is the second film production based on a FOX series since The Simpsons: the film was screened globally in 2007, and became a complete phenomenon at the time. With a success that precedes the story of the leap from these animated titles to cinema, a similar effect is expected for this new Belcher adventure.
A few weeks after the release, 20th Century Studios released the official trailer for Bob's Burgers: the film during the WonderCon celebration in Anaheim, California (United States). The cast and filmmakers behind the film participated in a panel in which unpublished details were revealed about this story that will soon land on the big screen. What trouble will we see this family in this time?
According to the official synopsis, it all “begins when a water main creates a huge hole right in front of Bob's Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers' plans for a successful summer. As Bob and Linda strive to keep the business afloat, the children try to solve a mystery that could save their family's restaurant. As dangers increase, they help each other find hope and fight to get back to the counter, where they belong.”
Kristen Schaal, H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, Zach Galifianakis and Kevin Kline make up the cast of original English voices. The film is directed by Loren Bouchard, creator of the animated series, and Bernard Derriman. Bouchard was also in charge of the screenplay alongside Nora Smith, and both are listed as producers as well as Janelle Momary.
The start of Bob's Burgers on TV
The cartoon sitcom debuted in January 2011 on FOX and currently has 12 seasons. The plot focuses on the Belcher family (Bob, Linda, Tina, Gene and Louise) and their burger restaurant located on Ocean Avenue in a community by the sea. Throughout the episodes, these characters star in crazy adventures related to their daily lives and very important themes such as family, adolescence, economic difficulties, etc.
The twelfth installment of chapters began broadcasting in the US in September last year and will end on May 22. A few days later, the audience will have the opportunity to see them again in the cinema, after a long time of waiting due to the delays caused by the pandemic. All seasons — up to number 11 — can be seen in the Star+ catalog.
The premiere of Burgers: the film in Latin America will be on May 26.
