Eduardo Yáñez is one of the most popular actors in Mexican soap operas, and throughout his career he has developed a large number of characters, both on the small screen and in the cinema, so he has achieved identification with his audience, who is also interested in the actor's personal life.

And it is that at 61 years old, the protagonist of melodramas such as Destilando Amor, The Hidden Truth and Fire in the Blood has gone through hard passages in his life and in addition to his well-known anger management problems, Yáñez has also suffered the consequences of alcoholism.

The actor had already talked about it before and had revealed that he had been engaged in addictive alcohol consumption for years. Now he returned to the subject and recalled for the program El minuto that changed my destiny a crude episode in his life.

On the Imagen Televisión program, Yáñez again admitted that he was an alcoholic, a habit he quit 15 years ago, although with some relapses that he described as mild. His anxiety crises due to lack of alcohol consumption have not gone to serious extremes, like what the actor experienced earlier.

“It is 15 years that I no longer take, although I have fallen sometimes, although there are levels and levels. I call it fall to a night where I put a bottle of red wine, but I don't go from there. Before it was to grab a beer and finish three days later,” he told the program hosted by Gustavo Adolfo Infante.

The actor from True Love was sincere and recounted that time when, in the midst of a crisis of anxiety about consumption, he came to ingest after-shave lotion just to continue being alcoholized.

“Look, I had a very strong period of alcoholism that I ended up taking shaving lotion with water, due to the fact that I kept drinking, and that already caused me too many health problems, now it does seem like pulling, but yes... I did look in the mirror and I already saw my veins like this (marked) and I did say 'this is not what I want from me', highlighted the controversial actor.

The controversial actor was questioned about drugs, and he assured that although he started using them at a very young age, he has now eradicated that vice.

“Drugs? Well, 'motita' (marijuana) from vocational school (equivalent to high school), when you went to concert or went out. In Los Angeles, where I live, it is allowed but I no longer use drugs or alcohol,” he said.

As early as August 2021, the actor who currently appears in the series Mi primo, starring José Eduardo Derbez, had told Yordi Rosado:

“It's not that someone made me an alcoholic or that I suffered because I was an alcoholic, nor mothers: we liked to drink and put our farts in. My problem came later: within the acting career the problems of love, loneliness, all those searches, all those unknowns about why I didn't have a family and you play the damn martyr, and to suck, because the suck transforms you and makes you feel on another level,” he said then.

“Then, you start grabbing it every day. First you are too intellectual to drink: I take 2 before bed or at mealtime. Then you like it and it's since you wake up, you follow it and at night you change the drink,” he added. Yáñez pointed out that “for 5 years I was like this until I ended up with Aqua Velva (a lotion); I was so fart that I couldn't go outside, and looking for a drink, I didn't have it anymore, and with Aqua Velva. There it was (hit the bottom). The next day I woke up intoxicated, full of pimples, my veins burst. And I said, 'This guy is not the one I want from me'”.
