Central defender Yerry Mina has missed most of the 2022 matches due to an injury to the right quadriceps in February. In total you have been absent 50 days and the initial recovery from your discomfort could take between eight to ten weeks. However, recent reports in the English media indicate that the player would soon return to training.

It will be given gradually and under the strict observation of the medical department, so as not to overload the muscle and that the recovery is given 100%. Contrary to what happened in February when he could only play one game and fell back to the next match.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard seeks to give opportunities to players from the Everton academy. One of them is 18-year-old Reece Welch. The central defender is similar to that of Yerry Mina, 1.98 meters, and was one of the most outstanding in the U23 team, so the English coach took him to the bench in the last match against Wolverhampton.

Over the course of this season, Yerry has played 11 matches: 10 in the English league and one more in the FA Cup. However, it has been longer that he has been absent. Among all the physical problems, especially in the thighs, he has not been available to the team in more than 17 engagements. “Yerry has also been a great leader from behind, we have missed him,” said the English strategist a couple of weeks ago.

Everton's bad campaign has already 'caught the heads' of Spaniard Rafa Benitez and Englishman Duncan Ferguson, who had taken over as interim coach. The appointment of Lampard, Chelsea legend and one of the top scorers in the history of the English league, arrived, but the picture is still not improving. Of the eight matches he has led, the 'Toffees' accumulate six defeats, and currently occupy square 17 with 25 points, three from the relegation zone.

At the end of this championship, it will be four years since Yerry Mina arrived at Everton. After shining with the Colombia team at the World Cup in Russia, scoring three goals, the defender from Cauca was signed by the 'Toffees' in exchange for 30.25 million euros. The signing of the contract was for five seasons.

Regarding the performances of Yerry Mina in English football, İlkay Gündoğan, one of the figures of Manchester City, was pronounced. The German steering wheel said that the former player from Palmeiras and Independiente Santa Fe is one of the most difficult defenders he has ever had to face due to the pressure he exerts on rivals.

“I remember Yerry Mina from Everton, a tough Colombian central defender. He likes to use his hands in a duel, scratches or pinches you on the back when the referee isn't looking. I've seen him do it once or twice,” Gündoğan said in the first interview with Sport Bild.
