So far, no details have been given about the findings, so it is not known whether these human remains belong to one or more persons, as well as their sex.

It should be noted that on March 21, eleven alleged members of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) were arrested. This occurred in Superblock 107 in the municipality of Benito Juárez, Cancun, Quintana Roo.

His capture led to the resolution of 13 homicides recorded in the entity, including that of businessman Federico Luna Cervantes, former Coparmex leader in the state of Quintana Roo.

In addition, the location of at least 8 bodies was derived in the vicinity of the Paraíso Maya subdivision, in regions 106 and 107. It was after the investigations that the work of identifying them continued. This led to the discovery that the criminal group was engaged in the kidnapping of rival narco-nudists to extract information from them, but also from local businessmen.

On March 19, agents of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo, found five bodies next to a dirt road in the Paraíso Maya subdivision. The search operation took place after the dismantling of a criminal cell in the same area that had three people kidnapped.

The victims' testimony served to locate the bodies, including the businessman and member of Coparmex Cancun, Federico Luna Cervantes and his escort.

It should be added that this is in addition to the record that testifies to the violence being experienced in one of the most important tourist areas of the country. Last Tuesday, March 15, a bag containing human remains was found on Gaviota Azul beach, located at kilometer nine of Cancun's hotel zone.

According to early reports, tourists walking early on the beach found the black plastic bag in the sand. It was then that they decided to inform the hotel staff who in turn reported the discovery of human remains to 911.

It should be added that on multiple occasions, groups searching for missing persons have attributed the disappearances and clandestine graves to different organized crime cells.

From 2018 to 2021, following search efforts in Jalisco, civilian collectives exhumed 1,039 bodies in clandestine graves. Since 2018, the groups have traced the rural areas of the bastion of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) where they have managed to recover teeth and bones, useful for locating the identity of missing persons. In addition, according to a government report, the municipalities where the CJNG has been operating most intensively, or that have had a serious history of violence, are also those with the highest number of unidentified bodies accumulated in their mass graves.

In January 2021, the Undersecretary for Human Rights, Population and Migration, Alejandro Encinas, announced that Jalisco, Guanajuato, Colima, Michoacán and Zacatecas are the five states in the country with the most clandestine graves nationwide and that they account for 85.2% of the total bodies found of people reported missing in 2020.
