On March 21, one of the flagship works of the current federal administration will be inaugurated: the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA). For this reason, since the early morning of this day, several members of the Morena party, such as the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, arrived at the facilities that had a investment of 15 thousand 223 million pesos, and combined the work of around 4,700 workers who were distributed to cover the work of three different shifts for maintain progress 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Once in the building, the chancellor who will participate in the morning conference this Monday, took the opportunity to record a bit of the facilities, which are scheduled to start their activities with at least 6 commercial flights.
“This is what AIFA looks like this morning, before its inauguration. We will have here the security cabinet headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Congratulations to SEDENA (Secretariat of National Defense) for its exceptional performance in the construction of the new airport,” Marcelo Ebrard posted on his Twitter account.

Since 6:00am (city center time) inside the AIFA you could already see the first tourists who will open the new terminal. So far, national airlines Volaris, Viva Aerobús and Aeromexico will have 6 daily flights in total to various destinations such as Tijuana, Baja California; Monterrey, Nuevo Leon; Guadalajara, Jalisco; Cancun, Quintana Roo; Merida, Yucatan and Villahermosa, Tabasco.
It should be noted that since before its inauguration, the project has received various criticisms about the viability of the project. According to experts, one of the main concerns is mobility, since to access the airport the most viable option is by car. Although some of the most popular bus and passenger transport lines in the country have already announced their operations to make routes to the new airport in Santa Lucia, the price of the transfer will range from 18 to 150 pesos, which for people further away from the point would be expensive.
On the other hand, Conviasa, from Venezuela, will be the first international airline to start operations at the new Mexican airfield. The announcement aroused criticism because this airline is known for constant delays, failures, deficiencies in service and passengers stranded in different cities around the world, issues that are usually the most recurrent complaints among users of the Venezuelan airline.
It should be added that the connection will be from AIFA to Caracas, but it will only be available on Mondays.

The construction of the airport has also cost the lives of workers, according to El Universal , during its construction, 10 people have lost their lives, according to the request for information given by the Secretary of Defense to the newspaper, 98 people were registered in three years of construction accidents in 77 events.
The most recent death was last Saturday, March 12: a construction worker died when a concrete lock collapsed in the works of the highway distributor of the Mexiquense Exterior Circuit, which contacts AIFA.
At 7:00am (downtown time) the morning press conference of Andrés Manuel López Obrador began, accompanied by governors Alfredo del Mazo, of the State of Mexico; of Hidalgo, Omar Fayad; as well as the head of government of the CDMX, Claudia Sheinbaum.
Also present are the Secretary of National Defense Luis Crescencio Sandoval and the Commander of the National Guard, Luis Rodríguez Bucio, as well as Ricardo Sheffield, head of the Federal Consumer Attorney's Office.
