“We have to try to create a night similar to PSG,” says Butragueño

Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño, admitted Chelsea's difficulty after being matched in the Champions League quarterfinals, but hoped to be able to “create a night similar to that of PSG.

“We all know who Chelsea is, they won last year, we face them (in the semifinals), a physically very strong, very solid, very cohesive team, they are going to be a very complicated rival,” Butragueño told the Movistar+ platform.

“The second match is at the Bernabeu, it can be an advantage as long as we get a good result in London, which has to be our first goal,” added the former striker merengue, after the draw held in Switzerland.

Butragueño recalled the victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 at the Bernabeu last week hoping to live another round of the same.

“That night was a huge boost for Madrid and a sense of pride, but our history also tells us that this should be a reference for future goals, so what we have to do is try to create a similar night,” he said.

“Those European nights are very special for us, but we face the best in Europe and I think in the world, and it's very difficult,” he added.

“It's going to be two very nice matches for the fan, two teams with an offensive mentality, who want to lead in the match, the fans are going to enjoy and see who is the strongest,” said Butragueño.

The responsible merengue avoided talking about the extra-sporting problems affecting Chelsea, which was put up for sale by its owner Roman Abramovich following sanctions for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

“We are in our business, that the team arrives well, that all the players are available and the other details that do not have to do with the game, we will face them as they have to come,” said Butragueño.
