The Attorney General's Office of the State of Michoacán (FGE) identified six alleged persons involved in the massacre that took place in San José de Gracia on February 27 in the municipality of Marcos Castellanos, among whom is Abel Alcantar “N”, El Viejón, alleged head of the Plaza of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
For each of the alleged perpetrators, a reward of 100,000 pesos is offered, in the event that information is shared that helps to determine their whereabouts or capture. The subjects identified are: Abel Alcantar N, El Viejón or El Toro; Jesús Adrián N, El Mora; Cristian Alejandro N, El Sapo, Antonio Gallegos N, La Bolachana, Jesús Eduardo N, El Chili and Juan Manuel N, El Rush.
On Sunday, March 13, two weeks after the events, the Public Prosecutor's Office obtained the corresponding arrest warrants for the crime of qualified homicide. So far, 12 search warrants have been obtained and executed in a multiplicity of homes in the municipality of Marcos Castellanos, where firearms, drugs, tactical clothing, cartridges and explosives have been secured.
Through work coordinated by the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection, the National Guard, the Mexican Army and the State Public Security Secretariat, around 50 expert opinions have been carried out, involving the analysis of videos obtained, drawing up spoken portraits, processing the scene, ballistic trajectories and reports of forensic genetics.

It should be recalled that , at the time, no body could be located, since the place was cleaned before the Michoacán authorities arrived. However, the head of the State Prosecutor's Office, Adrián López Solis, reported that, after carrying out genetic tests on the remains that were found, the presence of at least 11 genetic profiles.
However, so far there are no official figures for the red balance, but staff of the Prosecutor's Office found a bag with human remains inside, so it was possible to legally establish the loss of life of more than one person, said López Solis. Therefore, the prosecutor reported that the collaboration of the states of Jalisco and Colima has been requested to support the Prosecutor's Office with information on possible findings of clandestine graves.
Local reports indicated that the number of victims was between 10 and 17, although the Undersecretary of Public Security, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, asserted that no figure could be confirmed given that there was no body, an argument that was replied by the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
On February 27, while the funeral of Alejandro García Bautista's mother, El Pelón, was being held, armed subjects arrived at the funeral of the Mrs. Elisa B. on board 15 vans, explained the Undersecretary of Security at a conference on 1 March.

Some of the subjects descended from the vehicles with firearms and tactical equipment, grouped a dozen people in a row in front of the gate of a home with their hands on their heads.
Among the command of armed subjects was Abel, El Toro, who had a rivalry with El Pelón, who had threatened with death if he entered San José de Gracia, a municipality where he lived with his family. Despite being prohibited from entering this place, El Pelón attended his mother's wake accompanied by approximately 15 hit men.
At the time when the armed group broke into the wake, El Pelón was on the phone. Moments later, they detonated their weapons and executed them in broad daylight, a scene that was recorded in a video that went viral on social networks.
A flurry of gunfire stopped the music playing in the background. The same hit men or persons linked to them had cleared the crime scene and removed the bodies from the scene. When the Michoacán Prosecutor's Office arrived at the home where the wake was being held, they found struck casings of weapons of calibers of calibers .9, 7.72, 5.56 and 45 mm. Finally, López Solis commented that it was not a shooting, since there was “crossfire”.
