France 2019: Endler excels as USA, Sweden and Japan advance

All 24 teams at France 2019 have now played twice and, already, the last-16 jigsaw has nine pieces ready to be slotted in. Group F rivals Sweden and USA became the latest to qualify with second successive victories, and the latter's win over Chile also guaranteed Japan's place regardless of how they fare against England on Wednesday. This heavyweight trio join the Lionesses, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Canada in qualifying with a game to spare.

But USA and Sweden's underdog opponents did not go down without a fight. Chile battled bravely, with goalkeeper Christiane Endler truly outstanding, and few goals will be cheered by neutrals with the same gusto that greeted Kanjana Sung-Ngoen's late consolation for Thailand.
