The U.S. Olympic Committee has hired Kirsten Volpi as its new chief administrative officer. In this newly created position, Volpi will play a key role in the organization's day-to-day operations and report directly to CEO Scott Blackmun.
Volpi will oversee several divisions within the USOC, including Audit, Facilities, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, NGB Organizational Development, Security and Strategic Planning.
"Kirsten's experience with complex operations and organizations will be very helpful to us," said Blackmun. "I am excited that she will be joining our team and I know that she can help us ensure that our operations are both efficient and mission-driven."
A certified public accountant, Volpi is currently the senior vice president of finance and administration, chief financial officer and treasurer at the Colorado School of Mines. In that position, she is responsible for the strategic direction, advancement and oversight of the university's financial and administrative functions.
She's held similar roles for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the University of Colorado Foundation and American Water Works Association.
"Working for the USOC and being involved in the Olympic Movement is a dream come true," said Volpi. "I've been incredibly lucky to work for some amazing organizations over the course of my career, but this opportunity is obviously unique. I can't wait to get started."
Scheduled to begin her work with the USOC on September 1, Volpi and her family are in the process of relocating to Colorado Springs.
