Blood marks above Oscar Pistorius' bed and bedside table emerged as new evidence at the double-amputee's trial on Monday.

According to aGlobe and Mail report, police at Pistorius' home on Valentine's Day of 2013 found visible blood marks in the Olympian's bedroom as well as damage to the bedroom door.

Pistorius previously told investigators that after shooting Reeva Steenkamp, he carried her downstairs to solicit help. The Globe and Mail's Geoffrey York says this claim from Pistorius does little to explain his blood-spattered bedroom.

Testimony from gun expert Sean Rens, who met Pistorius in May of 2012, depicted the Olympian as a gun enthusiast. USA Today quotes Rens as saying the double-amputee had a "great love and enthusiasm" for guns.

On Monday, Rens told the Pretoria High Court that he had many conversations with Pistorius about firearms.

Rens also described an incident in which Pistorius drew his gun and went into "combat mode" upon hearing the noise of a possible intruder at home. The noise was in actuality a washing machine.

Prosecutor Gerrie Nel questioned Rens over Pistorius' firearms training.

Rens testified that the 'Blade Runner' consistently and correctly identified scenarios in which he should or should not fire his gun.USA Today reports Nel was trying to show the court that Pistorius defied those regulations when he shot Steevkamp.

Pistorius is charged with the premeditated murder of his late girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. The Olympian says he thought she was an intruder in his Johannesburg home.

On March 3, Pistorius pleaded not guilty to one charge of murder and a firearms charge associated with Steenkamp's killing.

If convicted, Pistorius faces 25 years in jail.
