RWCL Appoints TRN Radio Sport as RWC 2011 Official Radio Host Broadcaster

Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL) has announced that Radio Sport has been appointed as the Official Radio Broadcaster for Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand and will also act as the host broadcaster of the event.

In a deal that will deliver unprecedented coverage of the largest event ever to be hosted in New Zealand, the country’s largest national radio network will produce and broadcast all 48 matches through its stable of stations.

New Zealanders will be able to catch every minute of Rugby’s showcase event live on Radio Sport, while New Zealand’s Pool matches, the quarter-finals, semi-finals and Final will also be broadcast live on sister station Newstalk ZB.

Under the deal Radio Sport will also produce a clean world feed of all 48 matches for www.rugbyworldcup.com and other radio rights holding broadcasters, giving Rugby World Cup 2011 a radio broadcast platform that will cover over 200 territories worldwide.

Rugby World Cup 2011kicks off on September 9 with matches being played across 13 venues in New Zealand. Over 85,000 fans are expected to visit the country during the six week festival which culminates in the final at Eden Park, Auckland, on October 23.
